how does this form work?
once a payment has been established, i will reach out to you for confirmation, and your request will be added to my queue.
IF YOU’RE AT THE TOP OF MY WORK QUEUE, THEN BARRING ANY UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES (INJURY, ILLNESS, OR OTHER SUCH ACUTE DETRIMENTS TO MY WELL-BEING), OR STATED DELAYS (SUCH AS VACATION), I WILL BEGIN WORK On your project WITHIN 5 BUSINESS DAYS.
after that, it’s just a matter of time. generally speaking, if the service is available on the form, it is currently being offered.
how is payment handled?
payment is processed upon submitting your request. the form has an integrated paypal option for ease of use (for both of us), so you can submit your down-payment directly with your request.
all payment information entered is encrypted through the paypal plug-in on the form; all i receive from them is a transaction id, the associated name and email, transaction date, and the transaction amounts!
why are there down-payments?
unfortunately, it still takes me professional time to read through submissions and make determinations as to my fit for your needs! to limit the amount of requests i have to process, i require a down-payment.
a down-payment help establish trust that you value my time as a living being with a life and needs separate from your own on the other end of this professional relationship! if either of us decides that we’re not a good fit for the other after consultation, you’ll be fully refunded!
down-payments also allow me to break up the cost for low-income individuals and smaller organizations! trust me, i fucking get it. money is tight, so if you have specific needs, let’s work them out together!
why was i refunded?
if you have been refunded, i’ll let you know why! requests within the scope of my Terms of Service are unlikely to be turned down!
what if I want a refund?
full refund requests will only be processed before work has begun on your project. if i’ve already started work on your project, i will deduct my hours worked at $60/hr, plus a cancellation fee of 11% from the total.
please do not submit a refund request after your project has been completed. on larger scale projects, there will be time budgeted for revision; ultimately, you are paying for my time, not a pre-made product. if you are unsatisfied, let’s discuss why!
i put in a lot of effort in to all of my work, and while i always strive to meet expectations, i ask that you please respect and value my humanity as a creative professional.
how will files be transferred?
related files will be sent by e-mail upon completion to the same address listed on the form! if you require them to be sent or cc’d to an additional address, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
if the file size exceeds e-mail limitations, a download link and password will be established and privately shared with you via e-mail.
if you would like any particular assets made for the project to be included in the file transfer, such as colour palettes, sketch layers, design documents, variants, etc, please feel free to request them, but please understand i may not always be able to comply if, for example, layers have been merged due to circumstances such as hardware limitations.
if you require specific file formats for your project, please let me know!
creative rights and royalties?
i prefer to work with creative commons licensing, as i firmly believe that information should be free. however, i recognize that this cannot always be the case. any works that i create for your project MUST sufficiently and accessibly credit my self / RECURSION ERROR in its public release.
if works completed by RECURSION ERROR for your project are to be utilized in a saleable physical or digital product (such as video game, print products, or album sales), RECURSION ERROR does not require royalties unless net sales should exceed 111,111 units, or net profits should exceed $111,111. should net sales or profits exceed these values, royalty contracts shall be renegotiated to an equitable model. if net sales or values are expected to exceed these values, royalties shall be equitably negotiated during the contracting phase.
first and foremost, i want your project and your team to succeed, and that shouldn’t come at anyone’s expense. standard equitable royalty calculation models will be negotiated based on team sizes and project scope.
WHAT TYPES OF SERVICE DO YOU OFFER?
visual asset design
need visual or graphical assets for something? my areas of experience include digital and traditional illustration & painting, print design for posters and apparel, album art design, vector graphics and logo design, and video game assets!
i am a highly-detail oriented individual, and i love to spend hours on large-scale projects making sure everything looks as close to perfect as i can achieve. this can be costly in time and effort, but if you’ve got the budget for it, then i’m your bird!
if you’ve got a tight budget, and you’re looking for art with a high level of style, we can definitely work together to meet your needs! part of what i love most about being an artist is the flexibility and situational adaptability it affords me!
sound design
i love music! i love acoustic physics! i love perceiving waveform displacement!
i got the same autism they put in birds that makes them react to sound in that freakish kind of way. you know, like how parrots’ and corvids’ pupils pinpoint when they’re processing and dissecting sounds? like how they bob their heads and dance to the rhythm? you know, how they vocally stim those sounds they like? that’s me.
in all seriousness, abstract communication of ideas through sound is my absolute passion in life. whether you need synths programmed, sound effects designed, voice lines recorded, musical leitmotifs, orchestral compositions, lyrics written… whatever scope of soundwork you require, we will budget effectively and i will deliver it to our collective satisfaction. if i can’t meet both your expectations and my own, you will get your money back. this is a promise.
if it were not for the fact that i have bills to pay and a body to feed, i would offer this service for free. that being said, i will work with whatever budget i can so we can make waves together.
pay-per-minute
pay-per-minute requests are exactly what they sound like! you pay for my time, and i spend the amount of time you’ve paid for working on your request!
unless you have a specific request in mind for execution, i will be doing vibe work to whatever reference, inspiration, or suggestions you provide!
subjects and suggestions need not be limited to words or pictures: songs, symbols, poems, math equations, keymashing, anything goes (within a 420 character limit).
if you want to be cryptic and get some weird interpretive art back, i can vibe with that.
if you want me to work to a specific musical playlist, album, or individual track on repeat so the piece reflects the musical ideas, i can fuck with that hardcore.
obscure vocaloid tracks, your local band faves, your experimental noise music project, nyancat 1-hour loop. whatever the case, i will listen, so be creative.
currently, pay-per-minute requests are priced at USD $2.22 / per minute, starting at a minimum of 10 minutes ($22.22). this works out to USD $133.20 per hour.
this commission type is intended for smaller-scale projects and more experimental art; the increased rate is intended to offset the volume of unpaid administrative overhead it takes to work as a freelancer!
how is this time spent?
it’ll vary from piece to piece, but generally time spent will prescribe to a 1:3:5:1 ratio model. setup, layout, render, finish.
in example:
- 10-minute experimental sketch slot
- 1 minute of colour- and brush-picking
- 3 minutes of rough sketching
- 5 minutes of finer detail sketching
- 1 minute of finishing polish
- 60-minute experimental painting
- 6 minutes of colour- and brush-picking and general conceptual work
- 18 minutes of concept sketch layout
- 30 minutes of painting and flow work
- 6 minutes of finishing polish
if you have specific requests for how you would like to see that time spent, by all means let me know. i love an odd challenge.
